Arthur Rotary Club cancels 2020 Freedom Celebration Fireworks

It is with great reluctance that the Arthur Rotary Club announces the cancellation of this year’s Freedom Celebration Fireworks, scheduled for June 27. With the potential of 30,000 visitors in close proximity and the uncertainty of the progress in combating the coronavirus, it is felt this is the best course of action for the safety of our community and our guests, who come from all around the state and beyond.

It certainly is a bittersweet decision, as Arthur hosts, in our opinion, the biggest and best fireworks show in downstate Illinois. In addition to the joy of holding this event, revenue generated is used to support Rotary programs locally, nationally, and even internationally. Our Rotary Club has a long history of supporting our local schools and community projects. In addition, we help fund Rotary International’s goal of eliminating Polio throughout the world, which has seen tremendous progress in just a few years.

The possibility of rescheduling the event for a later date will depend upon circumstances as they occur.

The Arthur Rotary Club would like to thank all those who have helped us help others through attendance at our fireworks shows in the past, and we hope to see you again in the future.
