Atwood American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Days

By Doris Elmore
Staff Writer

The Atwood American Legion Auxiliary to James Reeder Post #770 Atwood American Legion will have Poppy Days on Thursday, July 2 and Friday, July 3.

Auxiliary ladies will be stationed at various places in town with their donation containers and poppies. Normally, Poppy Days are held in May, but due to the shelter in place for COVID-19, the auxiliary decided to postpone it this year.

Poppy Days is also known as Remembrance Day owing to the tradition of the remembrance poppy. It is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth member states since the end of the First World War to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty. It reminds Americans of the sacrifices made by our veterans while protecting our freedoms.

Please support Poppy Days with your contributions…“Some gave their all, Remember them all.”
