Howell takes first at Cerro Gordo cross country meet

The Bronco’s Dylan Howell crossed the finish line in fourth place in the Lincoln Prairie Conference cross country meet held in Bethany’s Crowder Park last Friday. With this finish, he earned a medal and All Conference status. Dylan’s time was 17:24 and was the top time for the freshmen in the race. Cerro Gordo’s team also finished in fourth place in the team standings.

Cerro Gordo high school cross country hosted a five team meet on September 21 that included Argenta Oreana, Oakwood Salt Fork, Bement and Sullivan high schools.

Bronco Dylan Howell was the boys winner finishing with a time of 17:12. Collin Warren placed 13th with a time of 20:03 and teammate Luke Dobson came in 14th finishing with a time of 20:16. Placing 22nd was John Freese with a time of 22:02, Hunter Rincker came in at 23:08 for 27th place, followed by Jarret Lents and Camren Brown in 29th and 30th place with times of 23:19 and 23:29 respectively, and Kyle Dobson finished with a time of 31:47 for 38th place.

For Bement, Jacob Stoerger placed 6th coming in at a time of 19:27, Jessee Quick finished 19th at 21:17 with teammate Kade Alumbaugh in 20th place with a time of 21:19, Evan Fogerson and Curtis Kalk placed 24th and 25th with times of 22:40 and 23:03 respectively, and Aidan Marshall with a time of 26:44 finished 34th.

Sullivan won the meet with 27 points, Argenta Oreana came in 2nd with 75 points followed by Cerro Gordo in 3rd place with 77 points and Bement in 4th with 94 points.

For the girls Cerro Gordo’s Hannah Hayes finished 10th running a 27:57.

Bulldog runners Caroline Hill placed 7th and Haley Garrett came in 8th with times of 25:05 and 25:35 and Trinity Stroisch came in 12th at 28:54.

Argenta Oreana took 1st place with 38 points and Oakwood Salt Fork finished in 2nd place with 55 points.
