Wesley Alan “Wes” Moore
Wesley Alan “Wes” Moore 74, of Mt. Zion, passed away at 8:39 p.m., Saturday, January 23, 2021, in Decatur Memorial Hospital, Decatur.
The family will host a service of remembrance at a later date. Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in Wes’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Wes was born October 9, 1946, in Peoria, IL the son of Wilber and Grace (Warner) Moore. He served his country proudly as a Sergeant in the US Air Force. Wes married Patricia Buchanan on July 20, 1981. He retired from Caterpillar in Morton. Wes was skilled in anything he put his mind to. He built his first home from the ground up and restored antiques he loved to collect. Wes was fiercely loyal and dropped anything to help others, especially for family. He had a special bond with his dogs, who became like children to him. Wes dedicated the last year of his life to helping others through the COVID-19 pandemic by making over 1,300 masks all donated to various organizations throughout the community.
Surviving is his wife: Patricia of Mt. Zion; daughters: Jennifer Brading, Sondra Moore (Rudy Pankratz) and Andrea Rolfs (Brandon); son: Brian Moore; brother: Kenneth Moore; sister: Joyce Pennington (Ebe); grandchildren: Tara, Katelyn, Byron, Chilo, Maddox, Kody, Lillian, and Allison.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents.
