CUSD 305 To Extend School Day 1/2 Hour Starting March 1
February 18, 2021
Dear CUSD 305 Parents, Students and Staff:
Good morning/afternoon/evening. I am excited to reach out and share the news with all of you that after discussions with the Remote Learning Team and the Executive Union Representatives a recommendation was put forth at last night’s board meeting and the board approved the recommendation to extend the school day ½ hour starting March 1st. The school day at each grade school will begin at 8am and students will be released at 2pm instead of the current time of 1:30pm. Also starting on March 1st, the high school will start at 8am and release at 1:47pm.
Again, we are grateful for the collaboration and cooperation with the both the Remote Learning Team and the Executive Union Representatives that helped make this decision possible. We are all excited to have the opportunity to extend our time with all the students. We are also very appreciative of the flexibility, understanding and grace that our families, students, teachers, administrators and communities have shown during these trying and challenging times. Without the cooperation and support of all involved the success of the in person learning we have experienced this school year would not have been possible.
You should expect follow up communications from your student’s Principal related to any additional scheduling or logistical changes that may occur related to the changes discussed above. Again, thank you for the opportunity to serve your students and have a great rest of the week and weekend.
Sincerely,
Mr. Shannon Cheek
Superintendent
