Members of the Atwood Chamber of Commerce are proceeding with an open mind for events for the year. While some events may have to be changed in how they are done, chamber members feel positive things will continue in 2021.

During their January meeting the following tentative dates were set for the year:

•Easter Festivities: Saturday, March 27

•Spring Garage Sales: April 30-May 1

•Apple Dumpling Festival: August 20 & 21

•Amish Country Bicycle Tour: (TBA)

•Fall Garage Sales: September 10 & 11

•October 30: Halloween Festivities

•November 19 & 20: Christmas Open Houses for local businesses

•Thursday, Dec. 9: Santa Parade

•Sunday, Dec. 12: Christmas House Walk

•Christmas Lighting Contest (TBA)

A decision on Thursday Night Live has not been made at this time.

These dates are subject to change due to the unknown of the ongoing pandemic and what the state will allow.

The Atwood Chamber and the Atwood Fire Department are making plans to work together for the Easter festivities on March 27. Details will be published in the near future.

Officers for the chamber are: President Stephanie Wierman; Vice President Cindy Cordts; Secretary Doris Elmore and Treasurer Alora Murphy. Anyone who would like to become a member and/or help with any of the events should contact one of the above for more information. Anyone is eligible to be a member. Dues are $35.00 churches; $25 individuals and $50 businesses.

Sponsors are needed to help with various events. Anyone who would like to sponsor an event should contact Mike Drake, 871-2929.

The chamber members are in the process of working on entertainment and vendors for the Apple Dumpling Festival. Please contact Jami Bowles if you are interested in being a vendor.

The next meeting of the chamber will be held on Thursday, March 11, at 5:30 p.m. at Michael’s Tavern.
