Knight Football Players Receive 2020-21 Season Awards
Kaden Feagin and Jack Martin hold the ALAH high school boys’ MVP trophy. Kaden was named Offensive MVP for this season and Jack was the Defensive MVP. Together they earned the honor of Team Co-MVPs for their outstanding play during this 2021 football season. 
These ALAH football players earned special awards that were presented at the Athletic Awards Night on May 8. Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School held an Athletic Awards Night for the usual fall sports. Head Football Coach Ryan Jefferson thanked the parents for adapting to all the changes this season. He then introduced the players by class and gave them their certificates and letters to those that earned them.
The freshmen included: Dalton Eads, Brody Louden, Chris Miller, Connor Nettles, Jayce Parsons, Colton Taylor, Nathan Tighe and Landon Waldrop. Sophomores were: Hunter Carnahan, Caleb Corum, Chilton Ingram and Bobby Schanuel. Letter Winners in the Sophomore class were: Mason Allen, Tanner Beckmier, Drew Cotton, Kaden Feagin, Noah Garrett and Kody Kornewald. All three juniors earned letters and they were: Austin Abercrombie, Max Allen and Quentin Day. As with the juniors, all thirteen Seniors received a varsity letter for their hard work during the 2021 season. Seniors were: Keegan Ashenfelter, Brady Borntreger, Ben Carroll, Morgan Cotton, Finn Davison, Brayden Fay, Billy Fifer, Brock Hudson, Rene Juarez-Cuevas, Aaron Likens, Jack Martin, Austin Plank, and Jamison Rocke.
Coach Jefferson then gave out the team awards. First up was the Most Improved and that went to Mason Allen and Bobby Schanuel for showing the most improvement from their first season of football to this year. Colton Taylor and Billy Fifer were awarded the Knight Pride award for their enthusiasm and good attitude throughout the season for Colton and for his career for Billy. Quentin Day was given the Good Soldier award earned by being willing to do whatever he was asked and play wherever he could help the team. The final award was the MVPs going to Kaden Feagin for Offensive MVP and Jack Martin for Defensive, their stats and outstanding play earning them these awards and also contributing to them both being named Team Co-MVPs for the 2021 season.
Coach then talked about when he decided to come to ALAH and take over the football program. He had seen the large, then 19, freshmen class and saw a special group with lots of potential. That group was now the Senior class of 13 players that provided quite a ride through their three years with Coach. He gave the career accomplishments of this class: with this group, we graduate 246 Varsity starts, 18 All Conference players, 13 letter winners (several had earned letters in their freshman, sophomore and junior years also), 5 record holders and several who ended up near the top of the all- time lists. They are: Billy Fifer ened up 5th all-time in rushing and finished 12th in total yards; Brady Borntreger finished 9th all-time in passing yards, and finished 18th in total yards; Ben Carroll ended up 3rd all-time in interceptions, and holds the record for most interceptions in a season. He also ended up 33rd in total yards, which is crazy because almost all of his yards came last year-had his season this year not got cut short due to injury, he would have finished very high on the list and probably would have the record for most interceptions ever; Finn Davison finished up just outside the top 15 in rushing yards, and finished 34th in total yards; Jamison Rocke finished just outside the top 15 in receiving yards and tied the record of most receiving TDs in a game with 3; Jack Martin finished #22 in tackles, but we know he should have finished much higher if it weren’t for missing an entire season due to shoulder surgery and with this season being short of games as well. I have no doubt Jack would have been a top 5 tackler when all was said and done. Aaron Likens leaves ALAH with THREE school records-longest field goal at 41 yards, most PATs made with 93 and most field goals with 11. These will be tough, tough records to break!
Coach thanked everyone for coming and closed out the football portion of the awards night.
