Moultrie-Douglas County Fair queens Karis Hortin 2021 and Makena Green 2019-2020 following the crowning on Friday evening.
Karis Hortin of Tuscola was crowned 2021 Miss Moultrie-Douglas Fair Queen on Friday, Aug. 6. Crowning Karis was Makenna Green, Miss Moultrie-Douglas 2019-2020. Hortin assumed the duties of Kali Pierce who resigned her position on July 31 due to time commitment, travel and financial obligations.
Karis’s first duty as Miss Moultrie-Douglas will be representing the fair at the Illinois State Fair County Fair Day on Friday, Aug. 13.
The daughter of Mary (Hance) Hatfield (1986 Miss Moultrie-Douglas), Karis is proud to follow in her mother’s footsteps. This is the first time in the fair’s pageant history they have had a mother and daughter duo hold the same title.
Hortin is a senior at Lincoln Christian College in Lincoln, IL., and will graduate in December with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. She will also compete at the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant January 14-16, 2022 at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Convention in Springfield.
