Meet the new Lovington Grade School Principal Marla Graham

Staff Writer

Marla Graham isn’t a stranger when it comes to small towns. She grew up in a tiny town known as Castelton but said she considered La Moille her hometown. Coming to Lovington was a bit familiar to her, as she spent many summers camping in this area. Graham said she has always loved the community and area atmosphere. With her background of growing up and spending time in a small town, it made sense that she was interested in being principal at the Lovington Grade School.

Graham received her undergraduate and masters degree both from Western Illinois University. Last year, she served as the Title Specialist for the La Moille School district.

Graham has few ideas and goals that she would like to implement for the Lovington Grade School.

“As the new principal I want to honor the traditions of our building, get to know our staff and students and then work with my students, staff, and community to implement beneficial changes as needed. As we begin this process, I am also working to organize the building in a way that best serves our students and their current needs. My ultimate goal is to create an atmosphere where students, staff, family and community members work together as one unit to meet the needs of LGS,” she said.

Graham is quite excited to be a part of the ALAH School District and the new principal of Lovington Grade School. “Who wouldn’t want to work here? Everyone has been incredibly welcoming and helpful!” she said. “I am happy to be joining such an amazing community here in Lovington and to be working with such an outstanding group of teachers and administrators at the Arthur School District. I think what I am looking forward to most is just watching our students grow and making connections with our community,” Graham concluded.
