Joseph Henry Benton

Joseph Henry Benton, 63, of Lovington, passed away 8:14 a.m. Friday, October 1, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 8, 2021, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Lovington. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Lovington. Face masks are suggested and please practice social distancing for the services. Burial will be at a later date in Keller Cemetery, Lovington. Memorials may be made in care of the family.

Joe was born December 14, 1957, in Decatur; the son of Joseph Benton, Jr. and Dora Elizabeth (Coleman) Benton. He married Tammy Y. Adams on February 14, 1996, in Lovington; she survives. He worked at MasterBrand Cabinets as a finisher. Joe enjoyed fishing, working on cars and his dogs. He was also a master at frying fish.

He is survived by his wife, Tammy Benton of Lovington; daughter, Shannon Benton of Lovington; sister, Sheila (Robert) Rader of Lovington. Joe is also survived by his step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Joe and sister, Laura Benton.
