CERRO GORDO FIRE DEPARTMENT PURCHASES NEW TRUCK

CERRO GORDO FIRE DEPARTMENT PURCHASES NEW TRUCK. The Cerro Gordo Fire Protection District received their new 2022 1,800 gallon Super Tanker with a spartan chassis in early October, replacing their 1988 firetruck. The fire department worked with the Alexis Fire Equipment Company on this purchase for nine months and experienced delivery delays from the factory due to on-going COVID issues. Equipped with every bell and whistle including a 30-gallon foam tank and back-up camera, additional hoses were added. The truck is also equipped with medical and rescue equipment along with fire hand tools and the bigger water gallon capacity will be a great benefit in the rural areas. The purchase price was $487,000.00 and they secured a 10-year loan keeping it local through the State Bank of Cerro Gordo. According to Gary Shaffer, the lifespan of a fire truck is 20-25 years. While it was being constructed Alexis provided them with a loaner truck. Pictured is Gary Shaffer, Cerro Gordo Fire Protection District Treasurer and Chad Cottrell, Engineer for the fire department.
