The Atwood Village Board approved moving forward with purchase of the new squad car equipment at the regular meeting of the board on Monday, January 10. Trustee Scott Harris conducted the meeting in the absence of President Bill Fleming. Trustees Chris Stoltz and Ron Wallace were also absent, all due to illness.
Atwood Police Chief Rob Bross was in attendance and explained to the board what equipment is needed for the squad car with the cost of each item and what is covered by insurance. This list follows:

The resignation of police officer Jeremiah Jones was accepted by the board. This was because Jones didn’t pass one of his police academy requirements.
The board gave Chief Bross the approval to advertise again for a full-time police position. Bross stated the next police academy class will be in May.
Expenditures totaling $14,900.70 was approved by the board.
The board approved the Vandevanter proposal of $6,866.51 to replace check valves on normal flow pump stations for the sewer department. Public Works Superintendent Jeff Mercer stated this needs to be repaired as soon as possible.
A discussion was held on the water sewer policy to adjust excessive water/sewer bills. The board decided the new policy wording didn’t quite meet what they wanted, so it was tabled until the next meeting. The board would like to remind residents to take advantage of the Eye on Water program they can add to their computers in order to check their water themselves. This program is available through the new water meters. If they do this, they will keep track of how much water they are using and if there is a leak. Check with Village Clerk Nancy Wierman if you need more information on this program.
Several other agenda items were tabled due to needing a full board for discussion. These items will be continued on the February agenda.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, February 14 at 6 p.m.
