Judy Durbin, Cerro Gordo Village Sweetheart for 2022

By Doris Elmore
Staff Writer

“Let Me Call You Sweetheart” Judy Durbin of Cerro Gordo. Judy was selected as the town sweetheart for the Village of Cerro Gordo. She was nominated by former resident Doreen Henricks. By being chosen as the Cerro Gordo Sweetheart, Judy will receive a one-years subscription to the Record Herald News.

Doreen stated, “Judy is the kindest, gentlest, most loving person one could ever meet. She has not only done a great job raising her own family, she has cared for MANY of Cerro Gordo’s children (including me. Lol!) She is always supportive of the local community, the schools, the sports teams, church activities, and so forth. She is simply a WONDERFUL person.”

Even though Doreen is no longer a Cerro Gordo resident, she subscribes to our newspaper and is very supportive of our events. She enjoys keeping up with her hometown and has family there. Thank you, Doreen, for nominating Judy, and thanks to the residents who provided pictures of Judy.

We are sorry to report that we didn’t have any nominees for the other towns in our reading area, Atwood, Bement, Hammond, LaPlace or Mt. Zion, but are pleased for Cerro Gordo. There was no charge for nominating someone and the winner in each town would have received a 1-year subscription to the paper. Hopefully next time we will have more participation.

Congratulations Judy, enjoy being Cerro Gordo’s Sweetheart for 2022.
