ALAH Jr. High Track Girls Sport New Uniforms in Track & Field Home Opener

Leighton finished in third in a time of 14.32 and Sophie’s time was 14.89. The seventh grade team won the meet over Okaw Valley, Villa Grove and Tri-County.

Coach Bryton Ragon has over 50 girls on his 2022 Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond jr. high girls track team and with so many out, new uniforms were a necessity. The all black, sharp looking uniforms proved successful with both the seventh and eighth grade teams winning the season opening meet over Okaw Valley, Tri-County and Villa Grove.

Cassidy Rohacs led the way for the seventh grade taking firsts in the 100 meter hurdles and the 400 meters. Brynlee Moore finished first in the long jump and the 4 X 400M relay of Brooklyn Peeler, Reece Oye, Rylie Ward and Embry Reardon rounded out the winners for the seventh grade.

On the eighth grade side, Ruby Burton was a triple event winner, finishing first in the 400, 800 and 1600 meters. Alex Clark, shot put and discus, and Gracie Romine, 100 and 200 meters were double winners. The 4 X 200 meter relay of Gracie Romine, Brynlee Moore, Addi Rohr and Skylar Graham and the 4 X 400 meter relay of Burton, Rohr, Romine and Graham were also victorious.

The jr. high track teams were to compete in Shelbyville on March 28 before returning to their home track for a meet with neighboring Arcola on Monday, April 4.
