ALAH JH Boys Track Teams Travel to Shelbyville for Triangular Meet
Seventh grader Joshua Taylor throws the shot put at the jr. high track meet on March 28. Joshua won the shot put competition and finished third in the discus. This was the second meet for the JH Knights and their first road trip of the season.
The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Jr. High boys track teams traveled to Shelbyville for a triangular meet with the host school and Central A & M.
The eighth grade boys’ team came in first in the meet over second place Shelbyville and Central A & M while the seventh grade took third just missing second place by one-half point.
For the eighth grade Payton Warrior continued his winning ways in the 100 and 200 meters and running the anchor leg of the winning 400 meter relay. Other members of that relay were Brayden Leech, Easton Frederick and Cruz Hale. Ryker Beckmier, in the 800; Cash Hale in the 400 and Cruz Hale in the long jump were other individual winners in the eighth grade competition.
On the seventh grade side Brennon Hutson won the 400 meters and Joshua Taylor took first in the shot put. The 1600 meter relay of Hutson, Cooper Shoemaker, Preston Gingerich and Owen Herring also finished in first place.
The Jr. High teams were to host Arcola in a home meet on April 4 and then again play hosts, this time to Villa Grove on April 11. The annual ALAH JH Invite will be back again this year on Saturday, April 16. The Invite which starts at 10:00 a.m. features several schools and lots of good competition!
