ALAH Jr. High Track Girls Compete in Triangular Meet at Shelbyville

ALAH seventh grader Cassidy Rohacs flies over the hurdles in the 100 meter hurdle race at the Jr. High track meet at Shelbyville on Monday, March 28. Cassidy would win the event in a time of 18.64.

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Jr. High girls’ track and field teams traveled to Shelbyville on Monday, March 28 for a triangular meet with the host school and Central A & M.

The seventh grade team won the meet and the eighth grade squad came in third in the team standings.

Eighth grader Alex Clark took firsts in both the shot put and the discus. The eighth grade also won two of the three relays, the 4 X 100 with Alyssa Richards, Avery Alexander, Ava Hutchinson and Lily Vanda and the 4 X 200 relay of Gracie Romine, Addi Rohr, Skylar Graham and Ruby Burton.

For the seventh grade, Embry Reardon was a double winner in the 800 and 1600 meters. Other individual event winners were Leighton Poulos in the 200, Brooklyn Peeler in the 400, Cassidy Rohacs in the 100 meter hurdles, Morgan Casteel in the high jump and Ashby Coblentz in the shot put. The seventh grade was also victorious in two of the three relays, the 4 X 200 team of Sophie Monts, Brynlee Moore, Rylie Ward and Poulos, and the 4 X 400 relay of Monts, Moore, Reece Oye and Poulos.

The jr. high track teams were to host Arcola on April 4 and then have another home meet on Monday, April 11 with Villa Grove.
