MTZ Village Board raises wastewater charges

The Mt. Zion village board approved an ordinance amending and increasing the current wastewater charges.

The wastewater charges include four different chargers. The basic user charge, capital improvement charge, until service charge and sanitary district charge. The basic charge currently is $1.34. The capital improvement charge currently is $0.42. The unit service charge is $2.50. The sanitary district charge is currently $2.21.

The rates increasing are: the Basic Unit Charge is increasing to $2.30 per 1,000 gallons. The automatic inflation rate will change from 1.3 percent to 3 percent on the basic user charge.

The Capital Improvement Charge will increase from $0.42 to $0.55. The Unit Service Charge will increase from $2.50 to $2.75. The changes will be effective starting June 1st.

The March 2022 Mt. Zion Police Department Highlights were released. Last month there were six criminal arrests, 34 traffic citations, eight ordinance violations and two traffic crashes.

The next Mt. Zion Village Board meeting will be held on May 16 at 5:15 p.m.
