CGB Cross Country Boys Advance to IHSA Sectional XC Meet

The Cerro Gordo Bement Broncos cross country team ran at Forest Park in Shelbyville at the IHSA Class 1A XC Regional on Saturday, October 22. The boys finished tied for sixth place with hosts Shelbyville with 155 points. The tie is broken by the times of the sixth place runners on both teams so CGB finished in seventh which will advance them to the IHSA Sectional XC meet next Saturday, October 29. That race will be held at Dodds Park in Champaign with the boys’ race starting at 11:00 a.m.

Bronco junior Dylan Howell was the top finisher for CGB taking tenth in a time of 16:05.22. Freshman Will Fuson was four places behind Dylan at fourteenth with a time of 16:34.8. The other runners for CGB with their places and times were: J.P. Brewer, 41, 18:27.93; Evan Fogerson, 42, 18:30.83; Brody Somers, 52, 18:52.54; Tyce Alumbaugh, 68, 20:01.43; and Cole Stoeger, 78, 21:25.34.

At the Sectional meet the top five teams and the top seven runners not on a qualifying team advance to the IHSA State XC Meet held at Detweiler Park in Peoria on Saturday, November 5. Good luck to all at the Sectional!

The Lacy Broncos also competed at the Regional but didn’t advance on to the Sectional. Competing in their last cross country race of the 2022 season with their places and times were: Gabby Block, 46, 23:20.8; Haley Garrett, 51, 23:51.64; Caroline Hill, 60, 24:44.30; Marley Olson, 80, 28:50.5; and Katherine Quick, 81, 28:53.88.
