Bement High School celebrated Homecoming last week and the announcement and coronation of the king and queen took place on Saturday evening.
The annual senior chili supper fundraiser and pep rally/bonfire was held on Wednesday evening. On Friday the senior class cookout took place and the parade stepped off at 1:00 pm. Leading the parade was Grand Marshal Barb Birch. The dance began immediately following coronation in Walsh Gym.
This year’s Homecoming Court members were Haley Garrett, daughter of Tara and Adam Garrett, escorted by Jariah Adamson, son of Lindsey Ross; Jazzalynne Hicks, daughter of Jini Hicks, escorted by Kade Alumbaugh, son of Jessica and Michael Alumbaugh; Emily Parrish, daughter of Erin Williams and Bryce Parrish, escorted by Austin Chestnut, son of Amber Chestnut and Chris Chestnut; and Emmarose Summar, daughter of Sandra and Lenny Summar, escorted by Ryan Dick, son of Lana Morgan and Shannon Dick.
Kindergarten attendants were Kaila Shaw, daughter of Andras Shaw and Ashton Munster, son of Kellie Champion and Travis Munster.
The class float competition was won by the freshmen class (Ghostbusters) with a tie for second place between the seniors (Back To the Future) and juniors (Goonies) and the sophomores (The Shining) finished in third place.
The game competition which included table surfing, 80’s Trivia and Battlefield went to the seniors in first place, juniors in second, sophomores in third, and freshmen in fourth place.
“Back To the 80’s” was this year’s theme.
