MTZ school board approves O’SHEA as construction manager of cafeteria remodel

The Mt. Zion school board met on October 18 and approved the authorization for construction manager for the junior high/senior high school cafeteria remodel to O’SHEA.

The design phase will start on November 1 and end on December 14. This phase will consist of develop options, owner review, refine options, present/review finishes, owner review, cm estimate and board update/approval scheduled for December 20.

The construction document process will start on Dec. 21 and end on January 24, 2023. This phase will consist of CD’s to 50 percent, owner review, CM estimate, board update and request approval to bid on January 17, 2024 and complete CD’s.

The bidding phase will be from January 24, 2023 to March 14,2023. Construction target date is 6/5/2023 with two phases that might end around 8/14/2023.

The process for the remodel is to expand the cafeteria, add seating for more individuals and repair some HVAC systems.

Mt. Zion Superintendent Travis Roundcount also stated in his communications that there will be a Mt. Zion Junior High sign going out front of the middle school part of the building a few steps down from the high school sign.

The next Mt. Zion School Board meeting will be held on November 15.
