Ella A (Miller) Bontrager
Ella A (Miller) Bontrager, of Arthur, IL passed away at 3:35 p.m. on December 11, 2022, at the Arthur Home.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Pleasant View Church 155 N CR 300 E, Arcola. Matt Bontrager will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Ella was born on August 9, 1929, in rural Arthur. She was the daughter of Adlai B and Katie (Mast) Miller. She married Raymond C Bontrager on December 14, 1948. They lived in Holy Matrimony 73 years. Raymond passed away Feb. 7, 2022.
Ella was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She helped her husband on the farm near Sullivan. Ella enjoyed making quilts and made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. Ella and Ray were one of the founding members of Pleasant View church in 1958 where she was still a member.
She is survived by 4 children: Marie Kuhns and husband Dannie of Arthur. Ruth Kuhns and husband Gary of Tuscola. Kenneth Bontrager and wife Goldie of Sullivan. Judy Herschberger and husband Darrell of Tuscola, 1 daughter-in-law Esther Kurtz and husband Nelson of Sullivan, 22 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, and 1 Sister-in-law Alta Miller of Arcola.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, 2 sons, Willis Bontrager and Ernest Bontrager, 1 grandson Mark Bontrager, 6 Siblings, Lena Yoder and husband Adlai, Henry Miller and wife Mattie, Lucy Schrock and husband Ben, Sovilla Miller, Fred Miller, and Daniel Miller and wives Laura and Ardyth.
