Stylists and barbers from the area donated their time to offer complimentary haircuts for CUSD #305 students on Monday, December 19. According to organizer Mitch Wilson, PE/Drivers Education teacher at ALAH High School, 36 haircuts were given. Wilson stated, “For the first year I thought this was a great service and I hope that it continues to grow as the years go on. As our guests waited they could listen to the seasonal Christmas music, grab a cookie or two that were provided by our Foods classes here at ALAH and some punch. We had a hoola-hoop and a coloring station for kids to burn off some steam while they waited for their turn to get a haircut. We hope to add more hairstylists and hopefully as the word spreads that more people take advantage of this opportunity we are providing to the communities of ALAH!” Those that donated their services included Kristen Thompson, Kristen & Co. (Arthur), Brittany Bates (Lovington), Kelsi Stenger, Chatter Box Beauty Salon (Tuscola), and Jordan Haveman, Armstrong Grooming & Shave Parlor (Mattoon).
