Logan Beckmier Commits to Western Illinois University for Cross Country and Track

Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School is proud to announce that senior Cross Country and Track & Field student-athlete Logan Beckmier will be committing to continue his athletic participation on the intercollegiate level at Western Illinois University.

Located in Macomb, Illinois, Western Illinois University is a member school of the Summit League and competes at the Division 1 level. The Fighting Leathernecks are led by Head Coach Trey Brokaw.

Beckmier has been a four-year varsity letter winner in cross country and a three-year varsity letter winner in track and field.  He was an instrumental part of the Knights 2021 and 2022 LPC Track and Field Championship Team, the 2021 and 2022 IHSA Sectional Track and Field Championship Team,  the 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 LPC Cross Country Championship Teams, the 2019, 2020, and 2021 IHSA Class 1A Regional Cross Country Championship Teams, the 2020 and 2021 IHSA Class 1A Sectional Cross Country Championship Teams, the 2nd place team at the 2020 Shazam State Cross Country Championships and the 2021 IHSA Class 1A State Runner-Up Cross Country team.

Beckmier’s personal cross county accolades include:  four time LPC All-Conference team, two time LPC Conference Individual Champion, 2021 Regional Champion, three time IHSA state qualifier, the 2021 Herald and Review Runner of the year, 2022 News-Gazette Athlete of the Week, 2020, 2021, and 2022 News Gazette All-Area First Team, and a two time IHSA All-State Runner finishing 13th as a junior and 10th as a senior. He was also selected as the team MVP for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.  His personal accolades for Track and Field include: 2022 Illinois Top Times 7th place in the 3200m run, 2022 Illinois Top Times in the 3200m relay, 2022 IHSA State Track Meet 11th place in the 3200m run, and 2022 IHSA State Track Meet 14th place in the 1600m run. Logan was also selected to the News Gazette All-Area Track & Field Team after his junior season.  In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Logan has maintained a 3.75 GPA throughout his high school career and is a member of the National Honor Society. Logan is currently serving as President of the ALAH chapter of FFA and is also a coach in the math and writing center.

Logan is the son of Tucker and Megan Beckmier of Atwood and plans to major in Ag Business at WIU.

In honor of Logan’s accomplishment, Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School hosted a reception on Wednesday, January 18 at 3:30 p.m. in the gym at Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond High School.
