June DeLong

June DeLong, 98, of Atwood, IL, passed away peacefully at 7:18 a.m., Sunday, March 12, 2023 at the Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL surround by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 201 Fifth Street, Ivesdale, IL with Father Patrick O’Neal as celebrant. Burial will be in the Mackville Cemetery, Atwood, IL

Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

June was born on September 12, 1924 in Fosterburg, IL, the daughter of William and Blanche Rosin Dettmers. She married Sidney W. DeLong on April 12, 1947 in Bethalto, IL. He preceded her in death on September 4, 2011.

Survivors include her children: Larry DeLong of Decatur, Mark (Jill) DeLong of Forsyth, Kathy (Ed) Mathews of Loudon, TN, Jacque (Drew) Rogers of Cedar Park, TX, Rick DeLong of Summersville, MO, Marcia DeLong of Atwood, Brian DeLong of Atwood and Lori (Ron) Ryan of Atwood, 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son: Ronnie DeLong, daughters-in-law: Sara DeLong and Jana DeLong, brother: Bill Dettmers and sister: Katherine “Kash” Blastic.

June was a homemaker. She formerly worked as a retail clerk at Sears Department Store in Decatur for 18 years.

June was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Texas Hold’em Card Club. She enjoyed adult coloring books, playing bingo and Facebook games.

June loved spending time with her family, especially her many grandchildren.
