The Mt. Zion school board met on February 21 and approved a sports medicine agreement with Hospital Sisters Health System and approved the second reading of organization for school board meetings after Board elections.

The Mt. Zion School District and HSHS enter into a five-year agreement. This agreement will last from 2023-2028. The cost of this contract is $22,500 per year.

The School Board also approved the second reading for organizing school board meetings after board elections. Prior to approval, the board only had 28 days to meet after the April election of new school board members.

This year’s school board meeting will remain on May 2. Future meetings after elections will be pushed back a week later so they aren’t on the last allowable day.

The Mt. Zion School Board also approved:

-One year contracts to Principal Justin Johnson, Principal Julie Marquardt, Principal Randy Thacker, Principal Heather Ethell, Director of Curriculum and Technology William Rocky and Special Education Administrator Renea Smith.

-Multi-year contracts to Superintendent Travis Roundcount (2023-2028, Associate Superintendent Brian Rhoades (2023-2027) and Principal Gary Gruen (2023-2027).

The next school board meeting will be on March 21 at 6:30 p.m.
