Knights Eighth Grade Boys Are ALAH JH Invitational Champions

8th Grade Knights Track Take Team Title.  The 20th annual ALAH JH Invitational was held on Saturday, April 15. This meet debuted in 2002 as the Arthur JH Invitational and has seen name changes and some very good performances form a lot of different teams over the years. This year the home team of eighth grade boys scored 103.5 points to earn the first place trophy. Seventh Grade Runners Up in Their Division

On Saturday, April 15, the Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond eighth grade boys track and field team won their division of the 20th annual ALAH JH Invitational with 103.5 points to second place Neoga who scored 90.5. Preston Gingerich and Cooper Shoemaker were individual winners in the 1600 meters and the high jump respectively. The 4 X 400 meter relay of Owen Herring, Max Boddy, Mason Thomas and Tyler Lisanby were also event winners.

The seventh grade Knights were close to earning the first place trophy, finishing just two points behind division champion Villa Grove who scored 68 to the Knights 66. The seventh grade also had two individual event winners, Alex Olivero in the shot put and Bentley Hutson in the 400 meters. Hutson, Olivero, Anden Berry and Jase Kingery took first in the 4 X 200 meter relay in a very close finish. Complete results follow this article.

The ALAH jr. high track and field teams would like to thank everyone who helped with the Invitational this past Saturday. A meet this large, needs lots of volunteers for all kinds of jobs and we are fortunate to have people from all our communities and our schools who are willing to spend the day helping our teams have the best chance to perform at their very best! A huge thank you to everyone that helped make it a success for the 20th time in any way!!
