Mt. Zion High School Boys Basketball Coach Dale Schuring was named the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) District 15 Coach of the Year. Coaches are selected by the IBCA based off their team’s success in post-season play as well as a good record that includes junior high, high school, and college teams.

“I am honored to receive this award,” Coach Schuring said. “I am very lucky to get to work with very talented players, supportive parents, as well as dedicated and knowledgeable coaches. I am very grateful for the opportunity and support from the Mt. Zion School administration and community.”

Coach Schuring led the Braves to an overall record of 28-5, 12-0 in Apollo Conference play, and a spot in the regional final game. The overall wins set a school record and for the first time since 2015 winning the Apollo Conference championship.

A luncheon for this year’s recipients will be held May 6 at Redbird Arena in Bloomington.
