Early Lead For Clinton Seals Fate For Cerro Gordo-Bement

Traveling to Clinton on Friday, the Broncos fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 10-4 loss as they struggled to contain the high-powered offense of the Maroons.

Clinton got on the board in the first inning when they scored on a wild pitch during Josh Bass’s at bat in the first inning.

The Maroons scored three runs in the third inning thanks to a walk by Bass and an error on a ball put in play by Braden Thayer.

Brayden Strack was on the hill for CGB as the right-hander surrendered six runs on three hits over three innings, striking out two. Ty Carlson threw three innings out of the bullpen.

Ian Bettinger went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Broncos in hits.

ALAH Captured Lead Early to Defeat Cerro Gordo-Bement

The Broncos trailed early and couldn’t come back in a 10-0 loss to the Knights on Thursday on the road struggling to contain the high-powered offense of ALAH.

The Knights scored on a double by Kody Kornewald, a single by Logan Schrock, and a single by Maddix Stirrett in the first inning.

A single by Tyson Moore in the third inning was a positive for the Broncos.

Brody Somers was on the mound for the Broncos. He lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and ten runs while striking out four. Ty Carlson threw one-third of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Wyatt Hilligoss was on the hill for ALAH Knights. Hilligoss lasted six innings, allowing three hits and zero runs while striking out 12.

Kaydon Waterhouse, Tyson Moore, and Michael Freese each collected one hit to lead the team.

ALAH tallied eight hits with Kornewald and Stirrett each racking up multiple hits for the Knights.

Late Score Costs Broncos The Game Against Cumberland

Tuesday’s game against the Cumberland Pirates was a heartbreaker for CGB as they lost the lead late in the 15-9 defeat. The game was tied at nine with Cumberland batting in the top of the fifth when Ty Bradley’s sac fly scored one run for the Pirates.

Despite the loss, the Broncos did collect seven hits in the high-scoring affair.

CGB opened up the scoring in the first inning, when Michael Freese doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

Scoring six runs in the second inning, Tyson Moore, Kaydon Waterhouse, and Ty Carlson powered the big inning with RBIs.

Moore toed the rubber for Cerro Gordo-Bement lasting four innings, allowing ten hits and eight runs while striking out four. Waterhouse threw three innings in relief.

Tyson Moore launched one home run on the day in the fourth inning.

CGB tallied seven hits on the day. Waterhouse, Freese, and Moore each had two hits to lead the team.
