By JODY SHONKWILER
Staff Writer

Holly Fuson and Kendra Jayne, newly elected board members and re-elected members Trixie Stoerger-Flavin and Layna Somers took their Oath of Office at the May school board meeting. The new members filled the seats of Todd Scott and Jeff Funk.

The exiting members were once again thanked for their combined 48 years of service to the district.

New officers were elected before the start of regular business. Denise Strack was elected as board President, Janice Fogerson as Vice President, and Trixie Stoerger-Flavin as Secretary.

High School graduation has been set for Friday, May 26 at 7PM at Walsh Gym. For the first time since Covid, there will once again be a reception line outside the gym, in front of the cafeteria, immediately following the ceremony. The parade of graduates will begin at 8PM and will take the same route as last year with the Fire Department leading the parade. Everyone is encouraged to park along the parade route and show your support for the graduates’ accomplishments.

It was mentioned by Christy Sweet, Elementary Principal, that several Bement middle school students will be representing our school in the IESA State Track Meet.

She also mentioned that the PTO, with the support of the community and local businesses, has raised approximately $6500 so far for the new playground equipment and they are still expecting additional funds.
