Danny Powell gave an impressive speech for the Atwood Memorial Day Services on Monday, May 29, at Mackville Cemetery. Powell stated he was honored and humbled to be asked to speak. He reminded those attending that this was not a holiday, but a day to observe, remember, appreciate and revere the sacrifices made for this country to make it the greatest country on the planet. Powell added, “Many many soldiers may not have physically lost their lives defending our freedom, but because of the trauma of combat, have left a part of their heart and soul in those foreign lands. These soldiers live with the death of their comrades-in-arms as well as the memories that rob them from sleep at night.” Photo courtesy of Shari Fleming.
