Staff Writer

The Mt. Zion Village Board met on June 20 and approved the issuance of the notice of award for the Fletcher Parks Tennis Courts Improvement Project.

The project will be a complete reconstruction of the six tennis courts including the water drainage. Only one bid was received from Dunn Company for $574,505.

Once the appropriate documents are executed, the project will begin. The school district is aware that they may have to adjust their fall 2023 tennis schedule if the project is not completed by the second week of August when the tennis season begins. Staff will keep the school district apprised as the project progresses.

Public Works is removing the old fencing and posts and the milling for the courts will be placed adjacent to the courts to save money and to provide a mud-free surface for maintenance trucks to access the maintenance shed.

Other actions made by the Village Board were:

-Approved the Consideration and action on Resolution 2023-8 A resolution Approving and Authorizing the Execution of a Joint Funding Agreement PE/ROW for State-Let Construction Projects between the State of Illinois Department of Transportation and the Village of Mt. Zion, Macon County, Illinois

-Approved Consideration and action on Ordinance 2023-9 An Ordinance Approving and Authorizing the Execution of an Amendment to the TIF Redevelopment Agreement by and between the Village of Mt. Zion and Lewis Property Development, LLC – Mt. Zion Rt. 121 Tax Increment Financing District Il.

The next Mt. Zion Village Board meeting will be on July 17 at 5:15 p.m.
