Hill and Fogerson Crowned Bement High School Homecoming

Bement High School celebrated Homecoming last week and the announcement and coronation of the king and queen took place Saturday evening September 16 in Walsh Gymnasium.

The annual senior chili supper fundraiser and pep rally/bonfire was held on Wednesday evening and on Friday the senior class cookout took place followed by the parade that stepped off at 1:00 p.m. Leading the parade was Grand Marshal’s Carla Bradley and Jani Hamilton.

This year’s Homecoming Court members were Joie Auth, daughter of Sarah Bales of Bement and Danny Auth of Bement, escorted by Jacob Flach, son of Ashley and Jefferey Flach of Bement; Caroline Hill, daughter of Tara and Bart Hill of Milmine, escorted by Evan Fogerson, son of Janice and Curt Fogerson of Bement; Erin Rogers, daughter of Marisa and Kraig Rogers of Decatur, escorted by Cody Robinson son of Sandra and John Robinson of Bement; Skye Tieman, daughter of Tosha Hooker and Jim Hutchcraft of Bement, escorted by Cole Stoerger, son of Joy Barragan of Savoy and Wes Stoerger of Bement.

Kindergarten attendants were Tiffany Hostetler, daughter of Jennifer and Dan Tavenner of Bement and Lester and Teri Hostetler of Lovington and Declan Shonkwiler son of Kaci Shonkwiler of Bement and Blake Shonkwiler of Bement.

The class float competition was won by the junior class, second place went to the senior class, the sophomore class took third, and coming in fourth were the freshmen.

The Cerro Gordo-Bement Broncos faced the Nokomis RedSkins and were defeated 46-7. During half-time the marching band performed and the homecoming court was introduced.  The late Stephanie Shonkwiler, Class of 1995, was inducted into the 2023 Bement High School Hall of Fame.

“Superheroes” was this year’s theme.
