The Mt. Zion school board met last Tuesday night and approved the changing of this year’s school calendar and tables a discussion item.
The board approved that April 8, 2024 will now be a half day. Last month, Superintendent Travis Roundcount discussed the idea and that day is the day of the Solar Eclipse. The eclipse will be the last of our lifetimes and Roundcount believes most families will want to travel to see totality.
The board tables the discussion and presentation of the school year’s enrollment numbers. Roundcount wanted to verify the numbers more and will be back to the board next month with the item.
The school board also approved:
-The compensation report.
-The Budget hearing and adoption of the budget.
The next school board meeting will be held on October 17.
