CGB Jr. High Girls Cross Country Team Qualifies for the IESA State Cross Country Meet

The Cerro Gordo Bement jr. high girls cross country team ran in the IESA Class 2A Sectional on Saturday, October 7. The meet was hosted by St. Joseph and held at the St. Joseph Sports Complex. The girls team finished in third place with 87 points behind meet champion St. Joseph who scored 21 and second place Marshall Jr. High School who had 76. The first three teams and the top seven individuals not on a placing team qualify for the state meet.

Eighth grader Madisen Callaway was the first Bulldog into the finish chute in 11th place overall with a time of 13:49.55. The other scorers for CGB with their places and times were: Sarah Hill, 12th, 13:51.99; Marley Bone, 22nd, 14:40.92; Miranda Miller, 28th, 15:116.71; and Lauren Hill, 37th, 16:02.61. Also running for the Bulldogs were: Peyton Albinger, 41st, 16:26.29; and Cecilia Cain, 47th, 17:30.76.

The IESA State cross country meet will be held at Maxwell Park in Normal on Saturday, October 14. The Class 2A girls will start their race at 10:45 a.m. More information can be found on iesa.org.

The CGB boys team finished in eighth place in the team standings at the IESA Class 2A State Sectional meet. Running for the Bulldog boys were: Griffin Durbin, 19th, 12:46.24; Lucas Fuson, 40th, 13:59.64; Silas Olson, 49th, 14:17.14; Tristan Garver, 64th, 15:56..17 and Clark Reynolds, 66th, 16:11.96.
