ALAH cross country girls advance two to sectional cross country meet

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond Knights girls’ cross county competed in the IHSA Class 1A Cross Country Regional at Sullivan’s Tabor Park on Saturday, Oct. 21. As a team they finished in eighth place with the top seven teams advancing to next week’s IHSA Sectional.

Tuscola took the seventh spot with 199 points while the Knights had 204.

On a better note, Ruby Burton, twentieth in a time of 21:29.75 and Embrey Reardon, twenty-seventh with a time of 21:55.31 both qualified as individuals for the Sectional meet.

Other runners for the girls with their places and times were Kimberly Krutsinger thirty-fifth in 22:24.76; Josie Carrillo sixty-second in 25:39.35; Esmeralda Diaz seventy-fifth with a time of 30:51.58 and Kenzie Edwards seventy-seventh in a time of 41:37.60.

For the boys, Preston Gingerich was fifty-second with a time of 18:52.54 and Owen Herring seventy-ninth in 23:03.58.

Ruby and Embrey will run at South Shores Park in Decatur next Saturday, Oct. 28. The girls’ race starts at 10:00 a.m.
