CGB Boys Cross Country Team Qualifies for IHSA Sectional Meet

CGB Boys Cross Country Team Advances to IHSA Sectional!  The Cerro Gordo Bement boys’ cross country team ran in the IHSA Class 1A Regional cross country meet on Saturday, Oct. 21. The team took fifth in the team standings which qualified them to run in the IHSA Sectional. That race will be held at South Shores Park in Decatur on Oct. 28. The Cerro Gordo Bement Broncos boys’ cross country team finished in fifth place at the IHSA Class 1A Regional cross country meet held at Sullivan’s Tabor Park on Saturday, Oct. 21. The top seven teams at the meet advance to the IHSA Sectional that will be at South Shores Park in Decatur on Saturday, Oct. 28. The boys’ race starts at 11:00 a.m.

Top scoring finishers for the Broncos were Will Fuson who was sixth overall with a time of 15:54.48; Dylan Howell, eighth in 16:01.98; Brayden Strack twenty-seventh with a PR time of 17:44.45; Evan Fogerson thirty-sixth with a PR of 18:12.03; and John Paul Brewer forty-fourth in 18:33.14. CGB’s other two runners were Tyce Alumbaugh fifty-first with a PR of 18:49.73 and Brenden Puckett fifty-seventh in a PR of 19:05.94.

Two girls competed in the Regional, Gabby Block who finished sixty-fourth with a time of 25:54.18 and Cassie Block sixty-sixth in 26:05.50.

At the Sectional the first six teams and the first ten runners that are not members of advancing teams will qualify for the IHSA State Cross Country meet. That meet is at Detweiler Park in Peoria on Saturday, Nov. 4.
