Warriors move past week with split win and loss

By Lenny Sementi
The second-ranked Warriors came away with a split this past week running away from a good Arthur Okaw Christian squad at home after the first frame on Tuesday, Jan. 23, winning their 18th game of the season 75-43 before falling to Bloomington Central Catholic on Saturday 66-46.

Coach Justin Bozarth’s boys started slow on offense in both contests but were able to overcome it against AOC scoring 64 points in the final three frames. The two teams traded hoops in the first until Tuscola utilized a three by Josiah Hortin and a late runner by Jordan Quinn to take a 12-10 advantage at the first buzzer. Quinn notched the first bucket the second as well finishing off an offensive rebound. Kam Sweetnam and Logan Kurtz followed with coast to coast finishes after steals on the next two possessions kick starting a 16-0 run by the black gold that also included threes by Quinn and Parker James that all but ended the hopes of the AOC fan base.
