Defense, rebounding help Arcola boys inch closer to 20 win mark

By Mike Monahan
BLUE RIDGE – The last time the Arcola boys’ basketball team won 20 or more games in a season was in 2015-16 when the Purple Riders went 24-4. Now this year’s team is on the cusp of not only earning its 20th win when they played Decatur Unity Christian February 6, but the victory would also mean that for the second time in boys and girls history (1988-89 was the only other year) that both teams will have a 20 win season. Arcola entered the game February 6 with a 19-6 record and an 8-0 record in the LPC. It is also Senior Night against the Lions.
