The High Power are back to the friendly confines of home this weekend, after playing a pair at Paxton, against the Swedes on Sunday.
While they were topped in the twin bill on Sunday, losing 12-2 and 11-0, they scored two runs in the first game after being held to one or less in the other five games. In addition, Brock Lyerly worked a total of six innings and was only charged with two earned runs on six hits. He fanned five Swede batters and walked four.
“We got a decent crowd,” said Trevor Froehling, the assistant coach. “They never fail to come out and support the team.”
For the season, he has a 0-3 mark, but an earned run average of 4.50. In his 16 innings on the hill, he has allowed eight earned on 18 hits. He has fanned nine and walked nine. His earned run average is the lowest on the team.
The other thing that was unique was the High Power offense had six total hits in the 12-2 loss. The most hits they have had in the previous games have been four. Both the assistant manager of the team, Trevor Froehling, who was hitting third in the lineup as the designated hitter, and Efrain Trejo, an outfielder, each had multiple-hit games.
Froehling was 2-for-3 with a double. He drove home one run. Trejo singled both times he was up to bat and scored one run.
Trejo has played in three games and is hitting .400. He is one of two hitters with a batting average of .400. The leading hitter on the team, thus far, is Lawrence Davis, who is hitting .417. In the six games in which he has played, he has made 15 trips to the plate, smacking five hits. He has driven home one run and scored once. In addition, he has also walked twice.
Froehling is hitting .333. He has three hits, one of which is a double. The assistant manager has a keen eye as he has walked four times and has an on-base percentage of .571. He has two RBIs and scored once.
“We play the White Heath Warriors in the fourth week,” said Froehling, “with a full squad, and we are excited to see if we can get one in the win column next week.”
