The Newman City Council donated $1,000 to J&M Displays for Freedom Festival this year, matching their amount donated last year.
According to the company’s representative, they are looking to raise $7,000 for the show this year, where the price is up from $5,500 last year due to tariffs and inflation.
The kitchen remodel in the old school building is “99%” finished, which costed around $9,000 in total. The park’s electric output is also being upgraded this week to accommodate food trucks.
As for other things on the agenda, no action was taken and only discussed. The City’s water lease is suspected to be up for renewal this year.
The Council also discussed applying for different grants to clean up “dilapidated properties.”
Finally, the line to the fax machine in the City’s offices are broken, where their provider, Frontier, won’t fix it. The Council discussed switching to Microsoft Teams or Metro.
