CGB’s Fuson, Callaway medal at Charleston XC invite

CHARLESTON – Although neither the Cerro Gordo/Bement boys or girls cross country teams had enough members for a team score Will Fuson, who finished 11th in last year’s Class 1A state meet at Peoria’s Detweiller Park (15:06.93 was his time) and missed the first meet of the season due to an injury, returned and placed fifth with a time of 15:40.35, good for fifth place and a medal.
Quaid Berger of Olney was the overall winner on the three-mile course in 14:43.71 and Mahomet-Seymour was the overall winner of the 22 team event. A total of 243 boys were in the event.
Madisen Callaway led the Bronco girls by placing 18th with a time of 20:01.58 and was among the top 20 to receive a medallion. There were a total of 177 runners and the top finisher was Tuscola’s Kate Foltz who ruan the event in 17;05.13. Shelbyville edged Mahomet-Seymour for the team title, 51-56 and there were 18 teams that competed.
