ALAH Jr. High Knights Track and Field Open 2026 Season on March 30 at Shelbyville Quadrangular

The Arthur Lovington Atwood Hammond jr. high boys’ and girls’ track and field teams opened their 2026 season on Monday, March 30 at Shelbyville. The other two teams in the four team meet along with the Knights and Rams were Central A & M and Champaign Franklin. The meet provided some strong competition as Franklin is an IESA Class 4A school, Shelbyville is in Class 3A and ALAH and CAM are both Class 2A schools. In fact, Central A & M will be the host of the IESA Sectional Track and Field meet on May 9.
The eighth grade girls were third in the team standings and the seventh grade fourth. The boys’ teams finished in third place in both seventh and eighth grade.
Winning events for the girls in the seventh grade was Trinity Schrock in the discus with a throw of 74’ 8” and in the eighth grade, Kyndall Crist running 29.41 in the 200 meters and Crist along with Maranda Pratt, Mariah Pratt, and Bentley Parsons took first in the 4 X 100 meter relay with a time of 55.50.
Second place points went to seventh graders Schrock in the shot put with a toss of 24’ 6.5”; Addison Cazel, discus, 60’ 11”; and the 4 X 400 meter relay of Natalie Peralta, Chloe Lawson, Rebecca Warner, and Lilah Ellis. Eighth grade runners up were Maranda Pratt, 200m, 29.60 and long jump, 13’ 7.75”; and the 4 X 400 meter relay of Crist, Maranda and Mariah Pratt, and Parsons running a time of 4:55.79.
Taking third place in the seventh grade were Sofia Williams, 800m, 3:13.95 and Cazel, shot put, 20’ 1” and in the eight grade, Crist, 100m, 14.10; Parsons and Mariah Pratt, 200m, 29.70; Halle Oye, 400m, 1:15.10; and Mariah Pratt, long jump, 13’ 0.75”.
ALAH seventh grade girls scoring fourth place points were Peralta, 200m, 31.70; Williams, 1600m, 7:40.22; Ivy Binion, discus, 50’ 1” and fourth place finishers for the eighth grade were Oye, 100m hurdles, 22.32; and Jennifer Plank who took fourth in both the shot put, 22’ 3.75” and discus, 52’ 1”.
Finishing the scoring for the Knights’ girls with fifth place finishes were seventh graders Olivia Harlin, 1600m, 7:40.72 and Ivy Binion, discus, 48’ 4” and for the eighth grade Parsons in the 100 meters at 14.40.
The ALAH jr. high boys took first place in the seventh grade in the following events: 400m, Micah Burket, 1:05.16; and two relays, the 4 X 200m with Micah Burket, Bowyer McGrath, Jamison Helmuth, and Waylon Miller running a time of 1:54.30 and that foursome also won the 4 X 400m relay with a time of 4:35.55. Eighth grade event winners were the 4 X 200m relay with Ajay White, Abel Lat, Eli Burket, and Kael Ward running 1:43.40 and the 4 X 400m relay of Lat, Brodie Carter, Eli Burket, and Ward with a time of 4:22.77.
Runner up points were scored by seventh graders Cody Miller in both the 800m at 2:44.34 and the 1600m in 5:55.19; McGrath, 110m hurdles, 22.70; and Waylon Miller with a leap of 4’ 6” in the high jump. Knights’ eighth graders earning second places were the 4 X 100m relay with Aiden Graham, Gabe Brown, Noah Albright, and Carter running 59.24.
Seventh grader McGrath was third in the 400m at 1:09.77 as was Ward in the eighth grade 400m with a time of 1:00.96.
Each grade had a fourth place finisher, Jamison Helmuth in the seventh grade long jump at 13’ 5.5”, Lat in the eighth grade 110m hurdles in 19.30. and Ward in the eighth grade long jump with a leap of 16’ 10”
Rounding out the scoring for the jr. high Knights were fifth place finishes by seventh grader Micah Burket in the 100m at 13.70 and by eighth grader Aiden Graham running 2:48.75 in the 800m.
The ALAH jr. high Knights were to host their first meet with neighboring Arcola in a dual meet on Monday, April 6. Their next home meet will be on Monday, April 13 when Charleston Middle School comes to town for a dual meet. Next up for the Knights will be their annual ALAH JH
Invite on Saturday, April 18 with ten teams competing for team championships.
