Arthur’s Gingerich 11th overall in Run for the Bagel 5K; wins age group

MATTOON – During the 39th Mattoon Run for the Bagel, Arthur’s Lamar Gingerich finished first in the male 35-29 age group with a time of 40:54.41 in the 10K, which was good for 11th overall. Gingerich was the top area finisher.
Artur’s Duane Schlabach was third in his age division of 55-59 and 69th overall in the 10K with a time of 1:01.04.
The 5K men’s overall winner was Blake Smith of Princeton, Indiana with a chip time of 15:36.22. A total of 380 competed in the 5K. The overall female winner was Shelbyville’s Lilly Woolrey.
In the 5K in the 20 to 24 male age group, Atwood’s Timothy Schrock finished fifth with a chip time of 25:16.44, good for 72nd overall. Placing sixth in the age group was Arthur’s Layton Hall with a time of 25: 37.05, good for 81st overall.
The 10K consisted of 106 runners for a total of 406 competing in the 5K or 10K. The men’s winner was Sullivan’s Jonathan Iacobazzi, who won with a time of 34:18.88, while the women’s winner was Holland, Michigan’s Ainsley VanenBrink with a time of 41:43.66.
Ages ranged from five to 77 overall.
In the 5K men’s age group 15-19, Arcola’s Nic Alanis and Jahel Galaviz finished 19th and 20th overall with times of 31:45.10 and 32: 47.33 respectively. They were 176th and 181st, respectively. In the male 30-34 age group, Arcola’s Sergio Griffith was fourth in the age group with a time of 24:26.51, good for 60th overall. Ivan Fink was third in the 75 and over category with a time of 41:27.41, good for 266th overall. Arcola graduate Dayton Leinweber was 64th overall in the 5K male and fourth in the 35-39 age group with a time of 24:39.37. Leinbweber now lives in Charleston.
Arcola’s Rachel Baumann was second in the 20-24 5K women’s category with a time of 27:50.80, good for 112th overall. In the 45-49 female age group, Arcola’s Steph Murray was eighth in the age group and 307th overall with a time of 48:19.93.
Tuscola’s Linda Scribner was second overall in the 60-64 age division with a time of 32:54.69, good for 184th overall. Two other women from Tuscola were in that age division: Diana Phillips-Gray and Gertie Schrock, who had times of 41:41.85 and 48:50.35, respectively, which was good for fourth and sixth in the division and 269th and 312th overall, respectively.
In the 10K women’s age division 35-39, Tuscola’s Anna Chovancec ran a time of 1:02.23.79, good for third in the division and 75th overall.
Camargo’s Stef Groves won the 45-49 age group and was 43rd overall with a time of 52:58.12.
