MTZ softball loses one game last week

The Mt. Zion softball team lost its only game of the week last week against Tolono Unity. The other games were postponed due to weather.

Against Tolono Unity, the Braves lost 13-8. Kennedy Highley hit two hits in four at-bats and secured two RBIs for the Braves. Sierra Hiser added a hit and two RBIs. Karlie Teal added a hit and two RBIs for the Braves. Lauren Waller had a hit and an RBI. Addison Niles also had a hit and an RBI for the Braves.

The Braves pitching staff consisted of Dakota Harrison, Kayla Schnippel and Niles. Harrison threw 0.2 inning giving up five runs and threw one strikeout. Schnippel threw 0.2 innings and gave up three runs. Niles threw 5.2 innings and threw two strikeouts and gave up five runs.

The Braves fall to 16-9 overall this season and hold an Apollo Conference record of 6-2. This week the Braves will face Bloomington, Charleston, Paris and Mahomet-Seymour.
