LeRoy Captures Lead Early to Defeat CGB
The Broncos fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 21-0 loss to LeRoy on Thursday at home. The Panthers scored on a single by Brody Bennett, an error, and a grand slam by Tyson Brent in the first inning.
CGB struggled to contain the high-powered offense of LeRoy Varsity Panthers, giving up 21 runs.
A single by Brenden Puckett in the second inning was a positive for the Broncos.
Brayden Strack started the game for Cerro Gordo-Bement. The righthander lasted one inning, allowing three hits and six runs while striking out one. Ty Carlson and Cliff Strack entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.
Puckett went 1-for-1 at the plate to lead the Broncos in hits.
CGB Takes Victory Over Blue Ridge 8-4
Cerro Gordo-Bement scored more runs than Blue Ridge to take the victory on Wednesday to the tune of 8-4.
The Broncos got on the board in the second inning as an error scored one run for CGB In the fifth inning CGB scored four runs. The offensive firepower was led by Ty Carlson, Kade Alumbaugh, and Brenden Puckett, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Tyson Moore was on the hill and the righty went five innings, allowing one run on one hit and striking out five.
Austin Wike led things off on the mound for Blue Ridge. The pitcher went five innings, allowing seven runs on five hits and striking out nine. Peyton Roy threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Michael Freese led the Broncos with two hits in three at bats. CGB stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Alumbaugh led the way with three.
