CGB Track & Field Team Compete at 51st ALAH High School Invitational

Caroline had a busy day on the track and the ALAH Invitational as besides the relay she placed third in the 400 meters at 1:04.94; fourth in the 200 at 31.63 and seventh in the 100 with a time of 14.07.

The Cerro Gordo Bement high school boys and girls teams competed at the 51st ALAH Invitational on Saturday, April 6. The boys finished in a tie with Cowden Herrick Beecher City for eleventh place with 20 points while the girls were twelfth with 22 in the team standings. There were nineteen schools in the meet with seventeen of them scoring in each division. Tuscola was first in both the boys and girls team standings with Sullivan taking the second place trophy for the boys and ALAH on the girls’ side.

Bronco sophomore Will Fuson scored in three events, taking second in a PR of 2:02.42 in the 800 meters and third in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:41.37. He also ran a leg of the 4 X 8 relay which placed seventh in 9:49.95. Senior Dylan Howell picked up the other points for the boys with a fifth place finish in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:15.75.

Senior Caroline Hill led the way for the Lady Broncos scoring in three individual events, third in the 400 meters at 1:04. 94, fourth in the 200 meters at 29.07 and seventh in the 100 meters with a time of 14.07. Katherine Quick took fourth in the high jump at 4’ 8”. The 4 X 8 relay of Mariah Corpus, Cassie Block, Ariel Ponce and Jillian Durbin were sixth with a time of 12.26.92 and Haylei Simpson finished the scoring for the girls running 20.40 which was good for eighth in the 100 meter hurdles.
