CGB’s Will Fuson Earns Two Medals at IHSA State Track and Field Meet

Will Fuson stands on the medal stand for the second time at the IHSA State Track and Field finals last Saturday. Will earned a sixth place medal in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:26.70. The Bronco sophomore had earlier in the day received a fifth place medal for his PR time of 1:56.89 in the 800 meter state final race.

Bronco sophomore Will Fuson ran in the preliminary rounds in the 800 and 1600 meters on Thursday, May 23 at the IHSA State Track and Field Meet at Eastern Illinois University.

He finished in fifth place in both races with a PR in the 1600 of 4:26.04. This advanced him to the finals on Saturday, May 25 where he took fifth in the 800 in a PR finish of 1:56.89 and was sixth in the 1600 at 4:26.70.

He ended his sophomore track campaign with two IHSA State medals. Will be interesting to watch Will for the next two years of cross country and track for Cerro Gordo Bement.

Senior distance runner Dylan Howell closed his high school career on the big blue oval at O’Brien Stadium in the 3200 meters with a time of 10:25.70.

Looking forward to seeing what Dylan can do at the next stage when he begins his collegiate career in cross country and track at the University of Illinois Springfield.
