ALAH Jr. High softball defeats Okaw Valley, loses to Villa Grove, Paris, and Tri-County

With a nice stretch by Knights first baseman Avery Johnson, the ALAH jr. high softball team finished a double play. The play started with center fielder Laila Sanchez throwing to Sophia Beck who then threw out the Okaw Valley runner coming to first. ALAH led 8-5 at the time.

Maranda Pratt drove in four runs on three hits to lead ALAH past Okaw Valley 15-5 on the road Saturday. She singled in the sixth inning, scoring two runs, and singled in the seventh inning, scoring one.

The Knights got on the board in the top of the first inning after Natalie Yoder singled, Trinity Schrock walked, Bentley Parsons singled, Lilah Ellis scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

Kyndrie Carter earned the win for ALAH as the starter surrendered seven hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking one.

With a total of 12 hits in the game, Carter, Pratt, and Parsons each collected three hits. A total of eight walks for the game with Yoder, Schrock, and Ellis leading the team with two free passes apiece. Schrock, Ellis, and Parsons each stole multiple bases as the team stole nine in the game. The Knights also turned two double plays in the game.

Hosting the Villa Grove Blue Devils on Thursday, Knights Laila Sanchez had three hits in three at bats, but it wasn’t enough as ALAH was defeated 16-8. Sanchez doubled in the sixth inning, singled in the first inning, and singled in the fourth inning.

Kyndrie Carter put the Knights on the board first as she doubled in the bottom of the first inning.

Villa Grove took the lead, 3-1 with singles by Maggi Clodfelder, and Kenna Koeberlein in the top of the second.

The Blue Devils with a big third inning scored 10 runs on eight hits. Riayn Cisna doubled, scoring two runs, Koeberlein doubled, scoring two runs, Anna Craig doubled, scoring two runs, Yetsay Briones grounded out, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Quinn Lillard tripled, scoring one run, and Amijah Riggleman singled, scoring one run.

Clodfelder earned the win for Villa Grove as she surrendered nine hits and eight runs over six innings, striking out 13 and walking six.

Reliever Trinity Schrock took the loss for ALAH going two and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on one hit, striking out four and walking five. Carter started for the Knights and gave up 12 hits and 13 runs over three and one-third innings, striking out four and walking four.

Sanchez and Schrock each collected three hits for ALAH as the team collected nine total in the game. Bentley Parsons went 1-for-3 at the plate and led the team with two runs batted in and Carter led with two of the six total walks. Parsons stole two bases as the Knights piled up six stolen bases on the day.

Villa Grove accumulated 13 hits in the game. Koeberlein led the Blue Devils with three runs batted in going 2-for-4 on the day. Cisna went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Clodfelder and Lillard each collected multiple hits as well in the game. Clodfelder had two of the nine walks and Rylyn Burris and Clodfelder each stole multiple bases for a team total of nine bases.

Paris Crestwood hosted ALAH on Wednesday and came away with a 16-1 win over the Knights.

Kyndrie Carter got the Knights on the board in the first inning with a single, scoring one run.

Paris Crestwood with a huge second inning, scored 16 runs on four hits to take the lead, 16-1 as the Knights couldn’t get things going.

Lilah Ellis took the loss for ALAH going one inning, allowing six runs on three hits, striking out none and walking five. Trinity Schrock started the game and allowed one hit and 10 runs (nine earned) over one inning, struck out one and walked nine.

Carter, Ellis, and Maranda Pratt each had one hit and Carter went 1-for-1 at the plate and led the team with the only run batted in.

In a walk-off on the final play of the game, ALAH lost 11-10 on the road Tuesday as they faced the Tri-County Titans. It was tied 10 all in the bottom of the seventh when a dropped third strike scored the winning run.

Despite the loss, the Knights had 12 hits in the high-scoring affair.

Tri-County got on the board in the bottom of the first inning on two doubles and a walk, each scoring one run.

In the top of the second ALAH tied the game with a walk by Sofia Beck, a single by Avery Johnson, and a fielder’s choice by Lilah Ellis.

Back came the Titans in the bottom of the second on a single scoring one run and a passed ball followed to extend the lead to 5-3.

The Knights took back the lead in the top of the third inning after Natalie Yoder grounded out, Beck walked, and Tri-County dropped a third strike, each scoring one run.

Tri-County jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning with a double, a walk, and a dropped third strike, each scoring one run.

Trinity Schrock took the loss for ALAH as the hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up two runs on one hit, striking out three and walking one. Kyndrie Carter was on the mound first for the Knights giving up nine hits and nine runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking nine.

The Knights collected 12 hits in the game with Yoder leading the team with two runs batted in going 2-for-4 on the day. Carter went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. Laila Sanchez collected two hits for ALAH JH Softball Fall 2024. in four at bats. Yoder, Bentley Parsons, and Beck each stole multiple bases for a team total of eleven.
