ALAH High School Boys Track and Field Begin Season at Mt. Zion

The 2025 indoor track and field season for the ALAH Knights high school boys team began with a nine team meet at Mt. Zion’s fieldhouse on February 28. The boys got off to a great start placing in nine of the eleven events they entered. No team scores were kept in the meet.
Senior Jacob Tighe continued his strong showings taking first in his signature event, the shot put. Jacob’s throw of 49’ 7.75” was almost seven feet farther than second place. The other first place finish for ALAH was the 4 X 2 relay of Cruz Hale, Daylon Doggett, Payton Warrior and Easton Frederick that ran 1:38.23. This time set a new ALAH indoor track record for the event. The relay and Jacob are both ranked number three in Class 1A on the Illinois Top Times Leaderboard.
Other Knights placing in the top six were a second place finish by Daylon Doggett in the triple jump with a leap of 37’ 2”. Taking third place were Easton Frederick in the 60 meter dash in a PR of 7.46, Brennon Hutson in the 60 meter hurdles in a PR of 10.24, the 4 X 2 relay of Justin Schrock, Cannon Doggett, Faemus Davison, and Brennon Hutson running a 1:45.59 and Cooper Shoemaker in the high jump at a PR of 5’ 9”. Easton Frederick was fourth in the long jump with a PR of 18’ 10”. Finishing in fifth were Payton Warrior in the 60 meter dash in a PR of 7.54 and Cruz Hale who ran a 25.17 for a PR in the 200 meters.
The boys will next compete at the Charleston High School Invitational on Saturday, March 8. This meet is held at Lantz Fieldhouse on the campus of Eastern Illinois University and starts at 9 a.m.
They will return to Mt. Zion for the Braves’ Boys Invitational on Wednesday, March 12.
