CGB Boys High School Track and Field Open Season with Two Mt. Zion Meets

The CGB high school boys track and field team opened their 2025 season with two meets at Mt. Zion’s indoor facility on February 25 and 28. No team scores were kept for either meet.

On February 25, two CGB boys took second place in events, Tyce Alumbaugh in the pole vault with a PR of 11’ 5” and Quintin Nevius was second in the 200 meters with a PR time of 25.12 seconds.

On Friday, February 28 the boys returned to Mt. Zion for a boys only meet. This time there were nine teams in the competition.

Tyce Alumbaugh moved up in place in the pole vault taking first with a leap of 11’. He also finished fourth in the 800 meters with a PR time of 2:21.8 and ran a leg of the Broncos 4 X 4 relay that also took fourth at 4:16.42. Other members of that relay were Joe Schum, J.P.

Brewer, and Azul Mendez. Quintin Nevius repeated his second place finish in the 200 meters with a time of 25.15. J.P. Brewer was sixth in the 800 meters at 2:29.11.

The Broncos will next be in action at the Charleston High School Indoor Invitational on Saturday, March 8. This meet is held at Lantz Fieldhouse on the campus of Eastern Illinois University. They will return to Mt. Zion on March 12 for the Braves’ Indoor Invitational.
